On October 3, 2022, the outdoor advertising operator RTSDecaux completed the modernization of 32 small city format advertising structures along the entire length of Timiryazev Street in Almaty. Starting from Zhandosova street up to Zheltoksan street, the old structures were replaced by new Mupi Szekely. Replacement work started in September and took 4 weeks.
Street furniture is largely subject to wear and tear due to direct exposure to precipitation, road chemicals and frequent accidents, so after years of service it may need to be replaced. The new Mupi Szekely cover not only car and pedestrian traffic, but also bicycle traffic through carefully selected locations.
The decision to simultaneously replace advertising structures with street furniture designed by Szekely was dictated by the desire to maintain a unified street style and reduce the level of visual pollution of the metropolis. Advertising constructions of this design are installed in the largest European cities: Spain, France, Poland.
